Going with another Gotein Giveaway!

I was very excited that someone ASKED me to do a giveaway and review on my blog that I of course said yes.  Who doesn't love getting to try something out for free and then give some to someone else to try.  I know there are quite a few of these reviews floating around so I will try to keep it brief!

Here is my take on Gotein

It comes in three flavors.  Chocolate was my favorite and strawberry my least favorite though I really did find that I liked all the flavors really.  I did use one of the vanillas to make a protein smoothie and liked it better than the vanilla protein powder I normally use in my smoothie and just mixed with the water like it recommends.  I also liked the chocolate WAY better than the chocolate protein powder I currently have.
This is the strawberry mixed up in my smoothie cup.
I was very surprised at how well they mix with water.  If you put in too much water though they just taste watered down.  I think a little less water is better than a little more if you are just guessing.  I never buy water in plastic bottles so other than the first time when I was measuring I mostly just guessed the amount of water needed.  The directions say to swirl, but I found I had to shake sometimes to get it mixed up well enough.  DO make sure you use COLD water, it really does make a difference.

It leaves a clean sort of aftertaste in my mouth, I have read other people think the same thing so I know it isn't just me! Oh yeah another plus.  The single serving size packages are great.  This makes them very portable.  I carried one around in my purse for two weeks with no problems.  Here is the one that sat in the bottom of my purse for two weeks.  Do you like the patriotic background.  I threw that in since tomorrow is the 4th of July!

Downsides
They cost about $2 a serving.  A box of 12 will set you back $24.95, which really isn't that bad when you compare it to other single serving size protein shakes.

Here is what they have to say

Gotein™ Protein to Go, helps refuel the body, and improves lean muscle mass while burning fat*. Perfect for the sports minded person that needs to perform at their best while exercising or playing a high energy sport.* Drink approximately 1/3 of a 16.9 fl. oz water. Add complete packet of Gotein™ to your water bottle, swirl and shake well until completely dissolved and enjoy a tasty, low carb shake!
Best to use between 20 to 30 minutes before and after exercise or active sport. Can also be used 30 to 45 minutes before meals to help curb your hunger.
Vanilla contains only 100 calories per packet and 17 grams of protein.
Chocolate and Strawberry contain only 110 calories per packet and have 16 grams of protein.
Vanilla and strawberry are both gluten free.
Here is the nutritional info on the vanilla.  Looks pretty good to me!
Have you tried it yet or just want to have some more?

  4. My on-the-go protein is peanut butter. But I'm intrigued by Gotein and would love to try it. I just got this nifty shaker thing for making smoothies that eliminates blender clean-up (any kind of heavy clean-up is a deal-breaker for me).

  21. I actually like my protein on the go in solid form (bars, homemade or store-bought) so that I don't have to wash a dish! I'm lazy like that. But this would be so handy to keep at work!
