He-Man Woman Hater Gates

I love that someone found my blog yesterday by searching "cheer leader camel toe spread".  What?  What does that even mean and I guess I really don't care to know. Sounds a little gross. I think I like the "redheaded female athlete" search a little better.

I had a pretty good if not slow run yesterday.  8.4 miles with some mud.  I had about 1.5 miles of running on a field road that was a little muddy, but not horribly so. It did get heavy on my shoes though. I did slip slide around pretty good  a couple times.

I had to stop several times to empty little rocks out of my shoes and socks.  These pretty black momma cows are always quite curious about what I am doing but never get too close, thankfully although once calving season starts I won't run in a pasture where they are.  Some momma cows can be very protective and not so nice to you if they think you may be a threat and my poor dog Cola would most certainly not be welcome.
Out of the field the roads weren't too bad.  Here is Cola again wondering what in the world I have stopped for again.  Seems like I stopped a hundred times to shed clothes, get rid of rocks, take pictures, open gates, drink some water, stretch, eat some chomps and on and on.
Just another pretty view, if you love sage brush and wide open spaces and I do!  The sky was really pretty today.  A storm was working on rolling in and sure enough it started snowing later in the day so I was glad I got my run done in the morning.
Of course one of the laws of the range is if you open a gate you close the gate.  I am always pleased to see these kinds of "cheaters" on gates.
Can you spot it?  It's the chain.  Makes closing the gate much easier.  I don't remember there being too many of them when I was growing up and my Dad likes to make He-Man Woman Hater Gates meaning they can be really hard to open and nearly impossible to close.  Thanks Dad for this one  :)   I can remember a couple gates where my sister and I had to work together with all of our strength just to close it and a few that we never could quite close so we would have to Jerry-rig it shut with some rope or loose wire we found.

Tell me one great thing about your day yesterday or today.
We are having our Thanksgiving potluck at work today...YUM!

  1. we have those cheater kinds of gates here, but they often always put cattle guards over the gate entrance too....which is a pain cause Tals REFUSES to step on the cattle guard. I have to lift her over them sometimes :)

  2. I would be afraid to open a gate to run through because I watch Frontier Force on NatGeo and from that show I've realized that everyone in Montana has a gun and isn't afraid to use it. :)

  3. Montana is a place I need to visit some day. Such a different way of life than here in Maine. My area is all fishermen--not many farmers and no ranchers. (Yes, I know the difference!:):))

  4. Cola seems like such an awesome dog! Are there any runs that you won't take him on?

Awesome thing yesterday? hmmm... it was a pretty run of the mill day - sick kid, school for me, homework for everyone. Have a great turkey potluck.

  8. I know I would love to have some of those cheater gates on our gates. My hubby knows I cant get those darn gates closed. I know I workout and do weight training but dont ask me why I cant get them close. They are one tough baby. Loved your pics girl. I hope to go to Montana someday and see all that open range. But I cant do with out the snow girl.

  11. I bet your shoes get really heavy some days!

Great pics; Cola is such a good running companion... must make you feel very safe, too.

I don't recall cheaters on gates when I was a kid. Made me want to skinny through the barbed wire so I wouldn't have to open the gate and get a BOY to close it for me!

  12. How beauitful! I have a feeling that besides the really cold winter I could fall in love with your part of the country!

I'm running Kiley's Virtual Thanksgiving 5K in our pasture at home and I'm going to make Allan take video so you can see our little farm.

  15. That was a pretty funny search term! I love to look at those because they can be pretty funny. Just the other day someone came to my blog by searching "fat girl 9 months pregnant." I would be offended but I was really fat when I was 9 months pregnant!

    I love your pictures! Beautiful!

  18. You run in such a lovely area - so very different from my urban world.

I managed to get all the front lawn leaves raked yesterday before the rain. Counts as great in my book LOL!
