Three Things Thursday

1. I am trying to come up with the perfect marathon outfit.  It is 93 days away, but I want to be prepared!  My shirt is easy.  I will be sporting my team Beef tank since they are sponsoring me for the race.  I have done a long run in it and had no problems.  That leaves what to wear on the bottom.

I have to admit here that since it is my first marathon and you never get to have a first time ever again, I want to look good.  When I look good, I feel good and it boosts my confidence.  It makes me feel a little more badass and a little less terrified of the task at hand.

Lululemon came out with a Run: a marathon skirt this week.  I wish I didn't stalk their website so much.  I love the little shorts that come under the running skirts and I love running in their skirts.  Pretty much makes me feel bad ass.

This is the Run: A marathon skirt.  I think I would love it because it is Lululemon, has the great little shorties underneath, has 7 pockets to hide things in and yet has a cute little skirt to cover the butt.  The shorts are key.  I think a HUGE part of the reason I love running in my Lulu skirts are I love the shorts under them so much.  No riding up and no chaffing, super comfy.

They also had these, which seem to be from the description just the shorts without the skirt, and way cheaper.  The above skirt is 78 dollars!  WTF?!  That puts it way out of what I am willing to pay, awesome shorts, pockets and all.
These shorts are cheaper, somewhat,  but then I could pair them with a Team Sparkle skirt.  I just can't decide what color.  I think there are several colors that would work.  I don't really want the black one though, as I will be running the marathon in July and black can be such a HOT color.  So that leaves red, green or gunmetal.

2. I love that the girls are outsmarting the guys on Survivor, so far.  I hope they keep it up.  Not sure why I love that so much, but I do.  I can't wait until they send Tarzan home.  And really what were the chances they would have a guy name Troyzan and one named Tarzan.

3. Today is a long run day and I will be breaking it down into two runs, half this morning and half this afternoon due to babysitter reasons.   Active.com had an article on this that I read earlier this week. I don't know that it is ideal, but at this point I am not too worried about it at this point since I do still have three months before my marathon.  Sometimes I have to take what I can get! :)

What do you think about breaking up the long runs?
Are you watching Survivor this season, if so what do you think so far?
What is your ideal marathon outfit, if you have run one?

  1. Not a Survivor fan but I did used to love to watch the Eco Challenges that the same guy produced pre-Survivor days.

I bet you already have a wonderful skirt to wear. What about that grey one with the ruffle?

And I think breaking up your long run is better than not doing it at all. I know it's not ideal but from what I read, it is better to do it than skip it.

    Have a great Thursday.

  2. Good luck with your run today. I am sure you will be fine with breaking it up.

  3. The lululemon skirts are cute but sooooo expensive! I just got a cute skirt sports skirt for 24 bucks when they were having a sale and I really like it.

My ideal marathon outfit would be something that is cute, bright (so I can be picked out in the crowd) and doesn't chafe! :)

  4. 1. I LOVE that new lulu skirt, but yeah, SO expensive. I'd snag a red or gunmetal team sparkle to go over those cute shorts, though :D

    2. I questioned splitting long runs last week, too - but my break is usually only 10-15 minutes, while I meet up with my run group (they're doing half the distance I'm doing, so I run half on my own, and half with them). Consensus is, not a big deal; and you have time, I wouldn't worry about splitting up this run!

  5. That shirt is so offensive. I love it. You need to go to India wearing that shirt. Okay, I'm just kidding! But it's kind of funny to run wearing a huge steak on your chest. I'm just glad it's cooked! :)

I like the shorts with a sparkle skirt. Unless you can get that Lulu on sale! They are so expensive! Do you have any friends in the Seattle area? They have an outlet store in Burlington.

  6. I wore a skirt and tank for both of my marathons, but wore compression shorts under the skirt for NYC. I love the benefit of pockets.

The guys are being total dumb asses this season! I couldn't get over how nasty Colton was before he got sick. It's one thing to outsmart, but you don't have to talk down to people right to their faces!

  7. ohhhhh...I love the skirt! The one I'm loving right from INKnBURN is also in the $70 price range, but it is soooo comfy! I almost run in nothing but skirts now - they are my fave comfort wise and flattering, too!

This is the first season of Survivor EVER that I haven't watched. Too darn busy right now.

  8. Yikes--Lulu needs to do something about that pricing! My goal with marathon clothing is always about practicality. I need pockets for gels and something that won't be too hot. After that, I don't worry too much about it!

  9. I am watching Survivor and I always laugh at how easily the men are fooled by the women. I guess it's the same way in real life:) Is Troyzan his real name?! I thought it was a nickname since he kind of looks like Tarzan. Good to know:) For my marathon I wore some spandex running shorts and a pink sports tank. It was my first race ever in 2004 with Team in Training. I would probably choose something different nowadays.

  10. That skirt is freaking ADORABLE. Does their stuff ever go on sale? Or better yet, clearance?

  11. I want that skirt for EUGENE!!! I LOVE!!!!! What size are you, we could go in 50-50; I wear it for Eugene, you wear it for Missoula and then we could trade off every other month??? JK :-)

  12. Cute skirt but way to short for me. I just got a gunmetal sparkle skirt for Portland RnR and I think it is super cute.

Ohh....now I can't wait to watch survivor you have me intrigured.

  13. I wore my Aspaeris shorts for my marathon and it was the best idea ever. No chaffing and I wasn't even remotely sore the next day. Mike, on the other hand, who ran the half, could barely walk.

  14. I break up my long runs once in a while - I feel that I am fresher for the last miles than if I just ran them straight through. LOVE that skirt, but too pricey for me!

  15. I agree that looking good = feeling good = running well! I love the look of lululemon but I have yet to buy anything. Pricey stuff!

  16. At the half we went to last week we saw people sporting Team Beef shirts. My husband loved them bc his nickname, much to my chagrin, is Beefcake or Beef. Anyway, when I read your post I googled Team Beef Kentucky and sure enough there is one here that he can be a part of and get his very own Team Beef shirt!! Yay!!

I thought the girls on Survivor should have kept Mike around a little longer. They might need Troyzan and Jay to vote with them in the next couple weeks. There's still plenty of time to get them out. I think they might have jumped the gun last night.

  17. I'm all about lack of chafe when I run long. I need way longer than that not to chafe LOL. I only have a few really pricey pieces and I have to admit, those are the ones I tend to wear the most and they are all holding up.

I've only broken up a run once or twice. It doesn't serve the exact same purpose as the full run, but it's better to get the miles in than to not, so go for it.

  18. Cute Lulu skirt but that price is crazy! The shorts with a red sparkle skirt would be cute!

  19. I haven't watched the survivor episode from yesterday so thanks for not spilling the beans on who went home!! I think it should definitely be the girls picking of the guys. Why are the most annoying ones horrible at the challenges so people end of keeping them around?

  20. Love the team beef gear! I'm a farm girl in KY, so awesome! The lulu skirts look awesome!!

  21. Isn't that the way it is, the cutest things are always the most expensive! Hope you can find a cute (but not too expensive) skirt to go with your tank.

  22. Why does Lululemon have such cute stuff and why,oh why does it have to be soo expensive?
I wore a pair of Lululemon shorts for my last marathon though and loved them.
I like light weight shorts, with pockets.

  23. You will look great in your marathon no matter what! I love the Team Beef tank--too bad so many people will see only the back of it in the race (because you will be leaving them in your dust). :^)

  24. LOVE the team beef tank! Super cute.

That marathon skirt by Lulu looks amazing.......I may have to go check that out myself. I'll have to stop by Lulu this weekend :)

  25. Target has pretty awesome booty shorts for $15. They even work on my old lady butt :)

  26. I watch Survivor, but I think we are an episode or two behind.

All those options are so cute. I tend to go cheap on clothes, but would love a few splurges.

  27. I vote get the shorts and wear a red sparkle skirt!

  28. Another vote for the shorts! Those look so comfy and cute!

  29. I just came across your blog and like you, I am a complete lulu addict and can't get enough! I just happened to stop by the store they put that marathon skirt out, and I totally scooped it up. I love their stuff so much, that even though it's insanely expensive, I find a way to justify it - and this skirt is AWESOME! It's worth spending the extra $. I have 3 of their skirts and this one is so great because it actually has two pockets in the under shorts - great for gu's. Good luck in your training and upcoming marathon! I will be wearing the new marathon skirt at my marathon this weekend:)
