Tuesday Randoms

My kids have converted their Easter buckets into foot baths.  I considered stopping them because I knew it was going to be a mess, but they were having so much fun, I just gave them a towel to wipe up the mess instead.

The radio in my car works but it randomly changes from AM to FM and from the radio to the disc player.  It seems like it likes to switch right when I want to turn up the radio and sing along..BAM new station.  I think it is trying to tell me something.

I cleaned out my kitchen cupboards this weekend.  I had 30 food storage containers and 329 lids.  I seriously threw out a whole garbage bag of LIDS.  Where do all the containers go?

I ate mint Oreos yesterday. So good. But maybe I should have tried to exercise a little self control and not eat twelve, although in my defense I ate four at a time, three different times.

I saw a spider in the house Sunday for the first time this year. I made my son kill it because I really hate spiders.  They are just freaky with all those legs like that.

The pace calculator on Runners World predicts I can run a marathon in 3:28 based off my most recent 5k time.  This freaks me out a little bit.  I wish I wouldn't have seen that, it seems to set the bar really high, I was thinking more like under four hours.  Kind of vague but a little more realistic for my first one I think.

My husband doesn't usually wear cologne, but he put some on the other day and my daughter told me he was wearing her favorite smell.  Previously him wearing cologne made her tell him he smelled so good she wanted to just fall on the floor and die.  Drama queen in the making!

Tell me something random about your day!

  1. I rode my bike today to work. When I got here two co-workers told me it was a bad day to ride my bike to work. Neither have done cardio in 10 years. In their minds, when is a good day to ride a bike to work.

  2. Here's my random (tales from the public library reference desk): Two CU guys approached me at the desk and actually asked me, out loud, not trying to make me uncomfortable, just being straightforward, about where the sex books are. Apparently one of them really likes his girlfriend and.....well, wants to get better at it. I sent them to 306.7 and 613.96. Maybe I should have been weirded out, but I didn't feel that way. I have a feeling that looking for sex books at the library is one of those grand old traditions that largely go unspoken.

  3. Too funny about your radio! That would be so annoying to be in the middle of a song and then have the station change on you. Hilarious about the lids too! You must have a container monster somewhere lurking in your kitchen. :-)

  4. I think the Smart Coach thing is weird. It has slower paces for all runs, but then expects an enormous drop in pace on race day?!

  5. 3:28 is sub-4 so I think you're on the right track! :)

Random fact about my day..... I'm in love with my new running shoes! Brooks Pure Cadence. Love. Love. Love.

  6. I think you can do better than YOU think. You will see. I bet you BQ at your first marathon...Kate did it...I predict the same for you!!!

  7. That is a seriously fast marathon time--however, you are a seriously fast girl!

    Random facts about my day:

day from hell at work, other doctor was sick, computer is a piece of shit, not one moment of quiet, tax return is back from the accountant and brought most excellent news so made up for all of the other stuff.

  8. Those pace calculators show you what you COULD do if you trained for it, not what you have to do. :) No one would expect you to run a sub 3:30 for your first marathon, especially since that number is somewhat ambitious because of your super speed on short distances. I do think that you are totally capable of running that time one day, but that day will be at least your second marathon :)

  9. I think a sub-4 race is definitely in you, especially after I see that you did twenty miles in under 4 hours (from Daily Mile!).

  10. Yeah, I think sub 4 is a way admirable goal for a first marathon. Picking a number too ambitious kind of sets you up. Regardless you are going to race well! I love the randomness of your day.

  11. I have complete faith that you'll do a sub 4! Forget the pressure of the 3:28. Run your own race!

  12. Leave the 3:28 for another marathon... Or in 88 days if you are feeling it- go for it! My BFF ran her first marathon and Got her BQ. And her 5k times weren't nearly as fast as yours. You never know what will happen on race day- but with your current training I'd think you are more than capable of a sub 4!!

My random is that I'm really enjoying running right now. Like REALLY enjoying it. Lame I know... Perhaps it was the last 3 months of running a few miles a week while my injury healed, but I can't seem to get enough right now :)

  13. I think I need to get some of that cologne for The Captain... what is it?

    :)

  14. I'm pretty sure that is how Oreos are supposed to be eaten! Also I think just sticking to your general goal of under four hours will make your first marathon much more enjoyable.

  15. I love the thing about the Tupperware. I mean really, did someone use the Tupperware without taking the lid too? Or did they cover it with foil? How did it get out of the house without a lid? They must go to the same places that the socks go to.

  16. Lots of randomness on my Tuesday - we're in Scotland for a few days and went to the zoo in heavy snow! Had to laugh because we weren't really kitted out for it and got very cold and wet!

  17. There is no way those pace calculators are accurate. It told me I could run an insanely fast marathon and I definitely didn't/couldn't. Don't let it freak you out too much.

    Your daughter is hilarious.

  18. Your daughter's comment made me LOL! Love it!
