Random things I have been doing

Life seems to have been busy but good.  Running is going good and I am getting ready to officially kick off half marathon training soon.  This week and the week of Christmas will be a little off, but I am not too worried about it except for stress levels. Training in the winter in general can be a little iffy with no treadmill, but I accept that and will just work around the weather the best I can.  I do have an elliptical which is not ideal but it does help.

The weather has been amazing, the first day of December I was out running in a skirt, YAY and should have been the second day but I just got some new tights and wanted to try them out. They were a little hot for the weather.  Which is good since I bought them to run in the cold weather with.  I got them with a gift  card from my parents for my birthday.

I got the Brooks Utopia Thermal tights.  Not as heavy as my other ones, but still warm.

I don't know why but my kids seem to think going to the local running store means they have to run around and chase each other in it. This doesn't make shopping there fun when I am constantly threatening my kids!

I experienced a body wrap for the first time in my life yesterday.  I didn't know what to expect.  I had a momentary freak out when she first wrapped me out.  My forehead had a small itch as soon as I was all wrapped and I realized I was too wrapped to scratch it...I can't move!  I forced my self to take some deep breaths and relax.

As soon as the scalp massage started I was able to completley relax and not worry about being a human mummy.  All the same, not sure if I would do that again.

I am making my kids fleece jammies out of fleece they picked out and am taking them to a Polar Express event this weekend.  They don't know it yet.  I am so excited.  I am going to get them in their new jammies and not tell them where we are going untill we get there.

Boogery eyes seem to be making its way around here five out of eight cousins have had them, including one of my kids.  My Mom got it too.  I keep waiting to wake up with my eyes crusted over too.  So far I have been safe!

The next time I post hopefully I will have pictures to make this more interesting!

  1. I never had a Brooks product I didn't love. Ironically their shoes don't work for me. Ha! My kids do the same thing in stores. Makes me nuts!

  2. I agree with Marcia, Brooks is the best (I do wear their shoes, though). I'm glad you like the tights. Those are my favorites.

Hope you guys stay healthy, that doesn't sound like fun.

  3. Must be the season - pink eye is in my home and in my class!!!!

I need some tights - I bought some and they were a great deal. I just need to be three inches shorter and 10
lbs heavier to fit into them!!! Thank for letting me know about the Brooks tights!

  4. I have those tights too. They are warm, but the fit is really weird. They aren't really "tights", more so baggy lycra on me for some odd reason.

Have fun at the Polar Express! Your kids will probably love it!

  9. I don't have those tights- I have the next lighter weight, the infinity. I would die from heat in those...unless I lived in Montana :) !

The kids in the running store- I can totally relate! I have to use lollipops and handcuffs.

Excited for you to kick off your training for the half. I know you have a very fast race in there.

Come check out my giveaway! Maybe you will be on the treadmill less with these. ?

  14. Those tights look great! So nice to be warm in the winter.

I know your kids are going to be so excited about the jammies and the outing. How fun!

Is Boogery Eye the same thing as Pink Eye? Gosh I hope none of you get it!

  15. Body wrap and scalp massage? Sounds wonderfully relaxing. (I felt weird during my "relax floating experience" thing - kept thinking I was going to sink or bump into people so didn't relax much!). I wish I had a massage or facial booked for some time soon - they're so luxurious and relaxing!

  18. I'm gonna have to agree with you on the weather. For Montana this is amazing! I ran on Saturday in my winter tights...bad idea. I was so hot by the end. It's kinda nice :) Your city must have a lot more fun stuff than over here. A Polar Express event sounds fun and so festive. You're awesome for making them the jammies!

  19. I kinda had a mini panic attack, reading your body wrap story. I can't stand having my arms immobile. The scalp massage sounds awesome, though!

My kids are terrors in runnings stores, too. Most of the employees seem to be young and child-free, too, so I always feel like they're looking at me with a mix of pity and disgust. Oh well.

The fleece jammies & Polar Express party sounds amazing!! What an amazing mom, you are. :)

  20. A full body wrap sounds a little scary to me. If I ever have one I'll have to remember to tell myself to relax and take deep breaths like you did.

    Love your new running tights!
