Intervals in snow and shopping!

I have to admit it not being very excited to do my 800 intervals yesterday.  All the roads were snowpacked, which of course means not very good traction which is not fun for speed work.  I considered skipping it, but I was feeling pretty good after a three mile warm up.

The sun was out and it was a balmy 32 degrees.  I was feeling really energetic.  I decided to give it a go.  The first two averaged 3:45, and the last two were closer to 3:30.  Not bad for crappy traction.  There were a few spots I would get good traction and I felt so much faster.

I can live with that.  I felt great.  I have to admit, I feel really good on this Primal diet.   I think my body is getting adjusted to the no grains.  I have been feeling really energetic the last couple of days.

Winter wonderland pictures from my run yesterday.
Clearly after running in so much snow yesterday morning, I had warmer weather on my mind. I took my daughter to town to run some errands and I ended up with a halter top for $7 way marked down at the Boot Barn and a short sleeve workout shirt from Costco.
Since it is a balmy 22 degrees out right now, I doubt I will be wearing either one of those anywhere today.

Time to logout and go RUN!

  3. Great job on the workout! I always like to look at pictures of snow because it is pretty. I just don't like to be out in it. Love the halter top! The color looks great on you. Doesn't Costco have the best workout gear? I am always bummed when there are no size smalls left. I hardly ever find anything, but when I do I usually stock up!

  4. Nice job on the speedwork in the snow!! I'm impressed. I ran today and the roads were so icy, I felt so speedy when I'd hit parts of the road that had been salted. It was awesome.

  7. Cute top! It's actually 60 degrees right now here in Chicago, so summer is on my mind today...tomorrow will be a different story I'm sure. Can't even wrap my mind around intervals right now! Nice job in that snow, it'll make it that much easier when the footing is clear.

  10. I gave up grains a few weeks ago at the advice of someone who is much more diet savvy than myself and I feel better. So much that I really notice that I don't have that "crash" feeling like I use to.

    Green top wins!

  11. Cute shirts!!! Love the winter wonderland. Here it's been this weird mix of cold winds and rain then the clouds go away as soon as it's cold enough to snow....

  14. You look so cute! I bought that same shirt at Costco in blue and pink! Can't wait to wear it:) Way to go on the speedwork in the snow. Have you ever ran in yaktrax? I wonder if that would help with traction?

  19. i had to admit, i would be so scared to try to do intervals in snow--- i'm not the most graceful. I've seen in a few magazines there are spikes you can attach to running shoes if you live in snowy conditions, kind of interesting.
