Three Things Thursday

1. Seems like lately my hair has been a snarly mess after my runs, and the longer the run it was the more knotted and snarled up my hair it.  Kind of makes me a little cranky to try and get such nasty rats out so yesterday I finally wizened up at put a braid in my hair.  Did wonders for my disposition the next time I had to comb my hair out.  I have tried buns before but I really dislike running with a bun, it just seems to bounce around and get looser and looser until I end up putting my hair in a ponytail.

I kind of am not a fan of the ponytail braid.  I feel like it whips around and I find myself annoyed by it while running.  I guess I should get unlazy about the whole deal and put in some French braids.

2 I did my first The Better Rocker Rocktober 30 day challenge workout yesterday.  I was worried it wouldn't challenge me enough.  By the 5th round I was feeling it!  Not in a HIIT out of breath sort of way, but in a my muscles are working so hard kind of way.  Each exercise was done for a minute with 10 seconds rest in between exercises.  so the whole thing took me 40 minutes to do.
Now I am supposed to do it 2 more times this week and next week I will get a new workout.

3. My husband called me during my run yesterday to tell me to look up at the sun.  This was as good of a picture as I could get, but there was this huge ring around the sun.  He thought it was called a sun dog.

I have no idea if that is what it is called or not, but it was really pretty so I am sharing it with you. The sky looks really dark, but that was just my iPhone, it wasn't that dark out when I was running. It wasn't see.
Are you doing any challenges this month?

  1. I feel like I am constantly having hair issues when I run! The only think I "like" is a ponytail--buns fall out, braids bounce around, I hate the feeling of pigtail braids touching my shoulders... (crazy much?) But my hair is long, thick, and wavy, so those ponytails were a hot, sweaty, NASTY mess all summer! I guess the solution would be shorter hair, but...

  2. My hair is always a giant rat's nest because it's curly and crazy. I usually put it in a bun, though, because that's the way it stays up the best.

  3. I too have succumbed to the pony braid after one too many knotted fiascos. My hair is not as long and pretty fine so at least it's not heavy and I don't mind it. I have to do braided pigtails for tri's to accommodate the bike helmet...i look like an idiot but it works

  4. I used to have the same problem with my hair when I wore hats to run. I ended up doing two braids...then again my hair is always nappy!!! That sun looks so cool! I'm doing BBB...kicked my butt this morning!

  5. Pony braid and then wrap it into a tight bun. Cool sun pic!

  6. I always wear a ponytail and my hair gets tangled. But I just use lots of conditioner when I shower and they come out pretty easy. I have done the braid too and it doesn't bother me too bad.

  7. That's cool I've never seen that ring around the sun. We do get some pretty awesome clouds around here though that makes for great photos of sun rays shining through them. No specific challenges for me but I do get to start working out again next week!

  8. That ring around the sun is an indicator of a change in the weather.... usually for the worse! We always watch for that when out cruising on the sailboat as it means a storm or a rain shower at least, here, anyway. Wonder if that holds true in Montana, too. Would be interested to know if your weather changes!

  9. Cool sun picture! And I am loving the yellow top--so pretty. My hair isn't long enough for a braid, but I know my friends with longer hair like to do two braids--maybe try that?

  10. I always had to braid my ponytail when my hair was longer. It would be a ratty mess if I didn't!

  11. I've tried the braided pony a few times, but I also find it just whips around and is super frustrating! I'm probably too lazy to actually french braid my hair before a run, so I deal with my ratty hair and split ends :)

It IS called a sundog! We get them a lot here when it's super cold.

  12. I tend to go for a ponytail, or a quick and rough French plait - that way it stays out of my face which is my main objective. High ponytails bounce around too much for my liking and buns are for ballet only!
Have never seen a sun circle like that before - cool :)

Because I love hearing from you all!
