The short story of a run

I got home from work yesterday afternoon and was greeted by this guy.
Can you see those eyes pleading for a run?

The weather like this,
Practically tropical compared to what it has been.

I already had on my running shoes and tights
These shoes haven't even been for a run yet and I have had then for over a month.
That is almost a crime!

so instead of going into the house, I took off into the wintery landscape.
What else could I have done that was sane?

A happy two miles later I was like this
Too bad I had to go and cook supper and the bus was coming or I could have done three.

The end.

  1. Love when I have the foresight to put on running clothes before I leave work so I don't even have to go inside the house first--makes getting out there so much easier! 30+ degrees sounds tropical to me right now too :)

  2. Bungee would kill for a run right now. It looks like she's going to have to hold out until the weekend, though. The temps here are still the kind that would kill you.

  3. Tals is dying right now too and it's not even that cold here. Hoping to get her out before I leave today!!

  4. It's a crime you look that good after running in that! I would be a red boogie dripping mess!! Running always puts a smile on my face after!

  5. Brrr! You guys are so brave. We are discovering that our younger pug loves the cold weather. He still wouldn't be able to run very far (silly smushy noses), but he's been asking to spend lots of time in the yard.

The rest of us? Bundled up and waiting for summer. Although, I think it might be cool to run in the snow. For a minute or two :)

  6. That sounds wonderful! My first run of 2014 has yet to happen, but I'm hoping for late next week! What kind of shoes are yours? Congratulations!

  7. Yay! Funny how warm temps in the 36s feel after dealing with below zero!

  8. Haha! I had to laugh the other day when I said "oh wow its warming up" when the temperature got to 20 degrees especially because a few days earlier it was -12. By the way, thanks for the post you did on dressing up in layers for running in artic temps. Came in very handy when I was in Minnesota during the holidays!

  9. Having a running partner is possibly the only reason I have considered getting a dog!
Ah, when temps in the 30's seems warm ;). It was 28 when I ran this morning and it felt awesome compared to the 10-18 it has been at that time of day.

  10. its warmer in Montana than it is in Tennessee... what is wrong with that? this is completely random but I've been looking into adopting a rescue dog now that my travels are taking a backseat when I return from Hawaii- after seeing all your runs with Cola, having a dog that can run with me is now a priority when creating my list of "wants" in finding the perfect dog :)

  13. Your pup sure looks happy he was able to escape the indoors. I'm allergic to all that white stuff on the ground.

  14. How can you resist that doggy face? Wish my dog wasn't so old and could still run with me...
