Three Things Thursday

1. I was supposed to do my long run on Monday, but since I had to help my husband and a neighbor cut and wrap some pork in the morning and volunteer at the school in the afternoon it did not happen.  I got in 25 minutes on the rowing machine and put off my long run until Wednesday.

I was planning on 11 miles.  It didn't happen.  I underestimated the loop I was running.  I haven't run it since last fall and in my head I thought it was just over 11 miles.  It was closer to 12 miles. I decided what the hay and ran 13.1.

It felt better than I thought it would.  The wind was a little cold, but at least the sun was shining.

2. I have completed 2 weeks of P90X3.  I haven't followed the schedule exactly, but am pretty close.  I do easier workouts when I have long run days or my body feels tired.  The workouts are pretty good, but not as hard as I thought they were going to be.  I guess what I was doing already was pretty awesome.

3. My daughter continues to teach me lessons in patience and perseverance.  She wants to help cook, but then she wants to do it all herself.  Like ALL of it.  Even if it takes her 25 minutes to open three cans to make spaghetti sauce from scratch.  She wouldn't even let me touch the can opener to help her get it positioned right.

She was so proud of herself once she was done though and I have to admit I was proud of her for sticking with it.  I did have to just walk away several times though while she was struggling.

Her latest venture was helping me make pumpkin muffins. I was not allowed to help put the batter in the muffin pan.  Love this stubborn little girl.

How has your patience been tested lately?
Ever miscalculated your long run distance?

  1. Your daughter is adorable :) I can imagine that it's hard not to step in, but it's so good that you let her do things herself! And I have definitely miscalculated my runs before!

  2. Love love that you let your daughter work in the kitchen. My Mother wouldn't let me 'help' when I was a kid because she hated mess in her spotless kitchen. I never learned to cook till a long time after I left home! Good for you and for your daughter too!

  3. My boys test my patience ALL.THE.TIME! Especially now that I'm so pregnant, I just don't have any patience left :/ My boys love to help cook too, they have little aprons & get to dump ingredients in the bowl...they haven't won the battle of doing ALL of it themselves yet!

  4. I had to laugh at why your long run got pushed. Such a foreign reason to me but totally normal for you! I love learning about life for you and your family, too cool.

  5. I miscalculate on the less side! Good for you and your daughter, I'm sure there were many of the same issues between me and my mother. The only time she would completely clear out was when I baked, she never could bake anything and didn't want to jinx my 'gift'.
