I found that it helped but on race day I am much faster. I usually focus on people to pick off and you can&#39;t really do that on your own. ;)<br /><br />Cooking is a chore for me. I don&#39;t have any kids yet so that may change as time goes on. In college I noticed that sometimes girls would kill workouts, but them bomb races and some girls wouldn&#39;t look so impressive at practice, but could go be top 10 at nationals... Part of that is just that running is so mental and another part is that I think a lot of people good too hard in their training and fatigue their muscles to the point that they can&#39;t recover by race day... I&#39;d say just keep doing what you&#39;re doing. So I wouldn&#39;t worry about you not doing tempo runs, seems like you do speed work, which is almost the same theory as tempo runs to me.
