I also seem to slack on that during the summer. I am still trying to do the Fitness Blender videos though. If you want something bad enough you can find time for it and having resources and being prepared is the first step! Since I am into functional fitness I like to use Funk Roberts and Ultimate Sandbag as a resource for workouts. If you subscribe to their emails they send new workouts frequently so I am never at a loss for something to do :) Annmariehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03667924422069420830noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6993815500672701308.post-61932266265115178652014-08-12T03:27:06.419-06:002014-08-12T03:27:06.419-06:00I don't make excuses about going running - no ...I don't make excuses about going running - no problems there - but I'm good at making excuses about doing housework! I caught myself doing that in the weekend, so I made myself do the dreaded job of cleaning the ceilings, and just like a run you feel so much better afterwards!Sheryllhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17460472835794108787noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6993815500672701308.post-58935910581430302272014-08-11T20:27:25.592-06:002014-08-11T20:27:25.592-06:00I hear you on the excuses! I get that a lot of people can't devote as much time to working out as I do (not having kids makes it easier), but anybody can squeeze in a 20-minute walk or some jumping jacks a few times a week.

I sometimes do Tone It Up workouts. The TIU girls annoy me, and they're really appearance-focused, but their workouts are good and do-at-home-able. I will read blogs, just because I like reading about how different people run, race and train, but that's about it.

We let ourselves believe our own BS. It's so easy to make an excuse or tell ourselves "I'll be able to do this when XYZ happens." But sometimes, you just have to stop and do. No matter what your job or situation, it's can be hard to schedule it in, but with a little inconvenience (getting up before the sun) and creativity (squeezing in a yoga practice at nap time), it can happen. It makes me crazy. ...I am so with you on excuses. It makes me crazy. Working in workouts with a full time job is tough, I have a flexible schedule and take full advantage of it. At the end of the day I get my workout in and my work done and make sure neither suffer, as both are important to me (working to pay the bills and working out to keep my sanity) and both tend to feed off of each other. Knowing I have a very stacked day and want to get in X mile run tends to make me more efficient. Maybe I need to be a bit more sympathetic but really if you have the will you will find a way.

I too enjoy the newer runners and their accomplishments adding on distance. I remember those days and try and pass on support as they surpass what they once thought impossible.

I haven't listened to pod casts in so long. I think I'll give some in your list a listen, I'm finding my pace starts to match the beat of the music (slows or speeds up - mostly slows) HA EXCUSE!! And wonder if a pod cast would help lessen that distraction. I used to listen to a knitting one while I walked the dog and eventually caught up and lost interest.

Bethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02902173640094934686noreply@blogger.com
