The only thing I dislike about the time change is that all my midweek runs are done in the dark. But at least this year I have a treadmill, so that'll help some!

I really love fall, so I think the thing I'm going to dislike most about fall here is how short it will be. Isn't it great to run with a friend or loved one?!? I'm really missing my running bestie, but now she's in Boston and I'm in Alaska.

I'm hoping to get Faith involved in the 4-H when she's older. We didn't have it when I was growing up because it was an urban area, but it's really active around here! I like the idea of her having so many activities, but that does sound like a lot of work for the parents!

4-H is a bit like scouts, but focuses on job/career-related things as much as the other parts that scouting focuses on. There are all sorts of different parts of 4-H that you can focus on including: showing animals, shooting sports, knitting-sewing-crocheting, cooking, and rockets (which I did as a city kid). The 4 H's stand for heart, hands, head, and health, and 4-H focuses on healthy living, all aspects of science, and being a good citizen in your local, state, and national communities. Where I live, here in western Nebraska, 4-H is really big and provides a lot of kids with new skills, social time, and a chance to prove themselves in some way. 4-H here is run through the university system, and I think is set up that way in other states too. & I dislike time changes. Especially since it still means dark earlier in the evening - which really cramps my running style.

YES!!! 4-H is amazing! I have many more life skills than my friends because of it.

I was in it 8 years in Montana. I did sewing, knitting, embroidery, cooking, photography, child development, cat, dog, etc. etc. I learned how to be a public speaker in 4-H, and I even won the Demonstration Competition at 4-H Congress and got to go to National 4-H Congress in Atlanta.

I LOVED 4-H- such a great program for kids to be involved in! I had dairy cows and also did clothing, fiber arts, photography & cooking. One year I showed brahma and had a rabbit. I have the best memories from going to the county and state fairs. I am even still very good friends with a lot of people that I met through the program. When I was in high school I did 4-H exchange where I went to live with another family one summer and then my exchange person would come live with me the next summer. I got to spend one summer in Kentucky, one in Kansas, and another in New York. I was even grand champion showmen at the Oregon State fair a couple of times :-)
