Three Things Thursday: Keeping it Short

1. Still doing a yoga challenge on Instagram. I think Cola likes to participate too as he manages to get into most of my photos.
2. This may be the all time best October weather for running ever.  We have had three rainy days, two of which I worked so they didn't really interfere with running. We didn't even have our first frost until yesterday. Best running weather ever and I have been taking advantage of it for sure!

I have been running trails as much as I can and so many hills!

more yoga.. where's Cola? I guess he snuck out of this one!

I count this road as good as a trail. I have also been trying to run different loops and routes than I usually do.

3. The kids had a wear your favorite team shirt day at school on Wednesday.  Lil Cowgirl got brownie points and wore her Team Beef running shirt. Smart girl!
Happy Thursday!

4 Steps To Running When You Know You Want To, But Are Feeling Lazy

I have been still running although apparently just not blogging.  The fall has been perfect for running and I am getting out every chance I have, which between kids, work and cow stuff hasn't been as much as I would like.  What you can when you can!

There was a day last week when the weather was perfect.  and I was feeling lazy. I kind of didn't want to run.  I knew though with the weather so perfect and I had the time, that later I would regret not running.

1. Get your running clothes on! Sometimes just doing that gets me out of my lazy mood.

2. Go outside and do some yoga, lunges, anything that makes you move a little and warms up your muscles.

3. Turn on your favorite running play list and get started running down the road.  Tell yourself you only have to run half a mile.

4.  If you are still not feeling super motivated put on some Van Halen.  Yep, I said Van Halen.  It is hard not to get pumped up to "Right Now"

Don't wanna wait til tomorrow,
Why put it off another day?
One more walk through problems,
Built up, and stand in our way ,ah
One step ahead, one step behind me
Now you gotta run to get even
Make future plans, don't dream about yesterday, hey
C'mon turn, turn this thing around
Right now, hey
It's your tomorrow
Right now,
C'mon, it's everything
Right now,
Catch a magic moment, do it
Right here and now
It means everything
Miss the beat, you lose the rhythm,
And nothing falls into place, no
Only missed by a fraction,
Slipped a little off your pace, oh,
The more things you get, the more you want,

Need to really hear it?

and the next thing you know you will be loving the run! or at least it worked for me last week.  I say give it a try!

How do you convince yourself to run when you know you will regret not running but are feeling a little lazy?

How would you rate your fall weather this year?  I seriously am giving it a 10 out of 10 for October.

Weekend Recap

Weekends seem to be flying by in a blur of football, running and cows right now.  Friday I was able to get in a good run and have to admit, I am loving this warm fall weather.  Fall makes for the best running weather.
Saturday was all about football. Little Cowboy's team played a pretty tough team , but ended up 1 touchdown ahead.  Little cowboy had two touchdowns and nearly had an interception.  He refused to smile for his team picture this year.

Then we watched the Montana State football team lose to Portland.  We had no defense. None. Sad.
I ran as soon as we got home

It felt good, but kind of funny.  I usually am more of a morning runner.  To be running when the sun was setting was weird.  I usually feel like I am gaining the energy of the rising sun and the setting sun felt like it was pulling the energy out with it.  It still felt good.  I mean a run, is afterall, a run.

Sunday we got out early and were on our horses heading out to gather cows before the sun was even up.  We were treated to a beautiful sunrise.

The cows trailed nicely
They moved rather smoothly through the chutes and were preg tested via ultrasound.

Then we took them to another pasture.

I considered running when I got home, but instead I washed my face (super dusty) blew my nose (super gross) changed clothes and took a nap.  It was heavenly.  I wasn't even sad I didn't run.

How was your weekend?

Life, running, football

I can't believe October is nearly half over! My little sister and her kids were here over the weekend.  I let my kids skip school Friday to get in lots of cousin playtime and have a sleepover Thursday and Friday night.  My sis and I got in a nice run/walk Friday.  She hadn't run much lately and my back has been bothering me so the slow pace was perfect for us both and for conversation.
Flag football is half way through the season.  It goes so fast! My little cowboy insists on wearing his Wrangler jeans to play in.  He has scored every game so they must not do too bad for athletic pants! My big cowboy coaches in his Wranglers too.

Saturday night we went to Bozeman for a college football game.  It was of course fun and even better that the Bobcats won.

We apparently can't all smile at the same time.
I was planning on running a half marathon this weekend, but I never got signed up and I am actually not all that bummed, Life is busy right now and between kids and cows the weekends are pretty well tied up for awhile. So at this point it is looking like my next half marathon will be in March!

#MotivateMe Monday,er Tuesday

Last week running went really well. Until the weekend anyway. I did a long run and a couple shorter trail runs. I have to admit after spending all morning in the cold wind and rain watching flag football I was in no hurry to get back out into it. So I spent some time on the elliptical.

Sunday we moved cows and while it was a little chilly, it wasn't bad, I came home with extra kids and figured I would run once they went home.  By the time they went home my back was not happy. I didn't run.

This guy loves riding, and chasing cows, he never once complained of the cold.

Monday I got up hoping that my back would feel better, but it felt worse.  It was beautiful running weather outside of course, and my day off from work. I finally gave up and went to the chiropractor.  He said my lower back was way out in at least two spots and cracked me good.  It felt so much better!  Although I was still pretty gimpy. This morning it feels nearly back to normal, but still a bit tight and sore. At least I am walking normal.  No running today.  I do have to work, so I will try not to over do it at work.

I am also doing an Instagram yoga challenge this month. I haven't done one in awhile so I decided why not!

My marigolds are making a comeback after being decimated by grasshoppers earlier this summer.  They were pretty much down to the stems.  They didn't touch the zinnias though.
\
I had considered doing a half marathon in October that was local, but I can't seem to find enthusiasm to run a super small half marathon on the streets of downtown Billings.  The half I did last year in October apparently isn't going to happen again this year. It had a really beautiful course along the Yellowstone River.  Boo.

My little sister and her boys will be here this week and I anticipate we will try to get in at least one run together.  There will be lots of cousin sleepovers and fun,  My kids are so excited!  and me too.

I don't really have a fitness plan this week since my back isn't happy, I will just see what it tolerates and try running a couple miles tomorrow to start. Easy yoga and maybe some basics like squats and pushups.
