Went for an AWESOME run yesterday. My shin is still feeling good. YAY! I was only going to run 6 miles but once I got started I just wanted to keep running. I went a route I don't usually do, mostly because it seems like there are always cows in the way. Not today though! I started at my Grandma's house (she was watching the kids for me) and started the run with a half mile up hill pretty steep, but then it kind of levels off. I ended up running 8 miles. It was an out and back with 1139 ft of total ascent and 1184 of descent. No wonder I felt so pooped by 5 miles! I started at an elevation of 3738 and turned around at 4183 ft. The highest point in the county was about 3/4 of a mile away at just over 4200 feet. Real creative but we refer to it as High Point. You can see forever from there. I remember so many times growing up loving riding down off of high point when we were chasing cows.
It was pretty hot out and felt humid for awhile but then the wind came up and that seemed to help, as did the cloud cover. I was glad I had my Nuun and water with me but was wishing I would have brought something for energy, which would not have been as big of a deal had a stuck to my original plan!
This run was so good for the soul. Beautiful day, my favorite scenery, wide open spaces, and feeling great!

Your runs have the best routes. I would totally keep going as well. I giggled when you said you avoid that route because of the cows. Here I am avoiding cars and traffic lights. Do you have a guest house?ReplyDelete
Congrats to the winners!
Great run and breathtaking scenery!ReplyDelete
How great to get out for a nice long painfree run in beautiful Big Sky country!ReplyDelete
I love running in the foothills, too, although I also love seaside runs. I love big open sky!
Of course I voted for you today.
That is some serious elevation! Oh my, I think you would have to peel me off the road after that run. Emailing you now, so exciting when my wardrobe expands without having to invest a dime!ReplyDelete

Would love to do a run like that--what an incredibly peaceful place. My favorite run is my club's 14-mile course. A bit of everything, and usually includes all my best buds too.ReplyDelete
I LOVE that mirror above your couch! :)ReplyDelete

I want to live there, not here where there are way too many houses and people!!!!!

You live in such a beautiful area Christy! Love the pictures!ReplyDelete
Looks just beautiful. Good thing you weren't a fugitive from the law, you just might have been caught :)ReplyDelete
Here in Portland, I have lots of favorite places to run - Forest Park, a nearby nature park, and the Nike Campus (which is a half mile from my home!)ReplyDelete
Your area is SO beautiful! Our countryside is gorgeous too. :)ReplyDelete
That run sounds technical, hardcore, and amazing. And um, HOW do you manage to look so amazing while running? I look like I've been run over by a bus by the time I'm done. Even on an easy run. You are my idol.ReplyDelete
That's some serious elevation change!! Wowzers!ReplyDelete
Hey, I like your running hat! Where did you get it?
Awesome run! It looks so beautiful and peaceful there. I hope to run in a place like that someday! Thanks so much for sharing. :)ReplyDelete
Oh, what beautiful country to run in! I wish I had more trails right round me so I don't have to drive 30-40 minutes to find some to run on...though once winter hits, I do run around the edges of the farm fields around here.ReplyDelete
Yikes! And I was complaining about hills today. Next time, I'll keep my mouth shut! It's really pretty up there, though.ReplyDelete
