Weekend Success

I had two rather fabulous runs over the weekend.  Saturday I did an even 8 miles and Sunday I did a pretty hilly 7.  My right quad didn't give me so much as a niggle.  I would call that a pretty big success.

The wild sunflowers on the side of the road are all going gangbusters right now.  They are one of my favorite flowers, happy and cheerful.

I took the kids to town yesterday and we finished the school shopping.  Well almost, I still need to find some water color paints for my daughter.  Apparently they are in high demand this year.  We also stopped at the candy store where I say this sign.

I hate spiders, creepy eight legged little freaks.  My son had one on him once and he was crying for some help and all I could do was tell him to brush it off.  He wasn't impressed.  I ended up getting the stick and brushing it off.  It was a large garden spider and I sure as hell didn't want it on me!

One more shot from the candy store.  The kids both picked out lollipops but I went for a bag of Jelly Belly Beans.  Love those little nuggets of fruity sweetness.

From yesterday's run.  Love my Altra Torin's but these shoes are a clear case for Lock Laces.
Apparently the combination of school shopping and going to a BBQ in the afternoon wore my kids out.  They were both asleep by 6pm last night and I enjoyed a quiet night with my husband.

  1. YAY FOR NO PAIN!
I spent the weekend as a rent-a-mom, watching 3 kids so our roof could get fixed. Man, that's exhausting! How do you do it? :)

  7. I also hate spiders and my house is a MAGNET for them. I just recently have had to start taking care of them myself. And it is horrifying.

    Yay for no pain!!

  8. Sweet! Glad the quad is [hopefully] doing better. You know, when I have aches and pains, I keep my running to a minimum. I'm a pansy like that. But I love that you bust out a couple 7+ milers. Love it. And I love the compression socks!

  10. I've been wearing some Skora shoes for running and CrossFit and ditto on the lock laces-- they came undone three times during a 14 min WOD today!

  12. Lovely sunflowers! My husband and I drove through Montana yesterday enroute to visting my family in Rapid City. We stopped at a rest area outside of Billings and I got nearly the same photo. I should've waved to you from I-90! :)

  13. Congrats on the two fantastic runs! It sounds like your patience has really paid off. Very, very, very happy for you.

I hate spiders too. Don't even get me started on that subject because we have had quite a problem with hobos in our house recently. We have hobo traps everywhere in our basement and each one has at least 2 spiders. EEEEEEK!

  14. 6pm??? Sounds heavenly! It is midnight and my children still haven't gone to sleep. Ugh!!!
Oh, and I walked into a room one time to discover my 6 month old daughter wearing a huge grin with spider legs peeking out from her lips. I ran from the room screaming-my husband thought... well ... something horrible and liked to have freaked out!
I refused to nurse her for hours after that!

Love the sunflowers - it must be awesome to run alongside them when they're in bloom!
