Yesterday was very foggy day. I am pretty sure the sun never once peeked out once. It was also a bit colder than the last couple of days were but at 21 degrees with no wind was not bad running weather. In fact it was really peaceful.
After feeling like crap all morning because I had a big ol piece of chocolate cake and a couple cups of coffee for breakfast, I ate fish and veggies for lunch but still just kind of felt crappy. I nearly bagged the run. I didn't go until around 2 and as soon as I started running I started feeling better instantly and went on to have a rather stellar 7.5 mile run with an 8:16 pace.
I was a little surprised at the pace, that is faster than I normally run a longerish run and I hadn't felt great all day. Maybe it was the fog or just my body wanting to do a detox! Either way it felt really great.
I did get some pretty pictures of the grasses all covered in frost, which I think a lot better covered in frost than I do!
I also updated my Garmin training center this week thanks to Neon Blonde Runner. I love the new look. I didn't even know I could update. Thanks Katherine!
Speaking of her, she Boston qualified with her second marathon with a 3:30 time at the Rehoboth Beach Marathon over the weekend. So go wish her a congrats if you haven't already.
Confession: I frequently have "breakfast dessert" i.e. a cookie or piece of chocolate after breakfast...oops!ReplyDelete
Love when those runs that you think are going to suck end up being just what you needed!
Cool pictures! And I've found that running often takes care of the days when I feel like crap (physically or mentally). Glad you got a nice run in!ReplyDelete
AAAH YOU ARE SO SWEET!!ReplyDelete
I am still on cloud 9....still can't really believe it.
Oh and I am glad that the Garmin update worked for you, I really love it too. Much more intuitive and well organized. Actually appears to be of this century!
Absolutely beautiful pics Christy! I chickened out and did a tm run yesterday. Looking forward to a evening run with friends tonight, though!! :)ReplyDelete
Oh, a friends of mine ran in the Rehoboth Beach Marathon too. I think she finished in like 3:16 or something. :)
that looks chilly but also very pretty. Great job at an awesome pace in such chilly weather!ReplyDelete
Maybe you should have cake for breakfast every morning. :) I'm glad you got in the zone once you started running and had a great one!ReplyDelete
Those pictures are so cool!!! I'm so glad you got in your run and it was what you needed!!!ReplyDelete
Beautiful pictures!! I'm so glad that you had such a great run.ReplyDelete
I keep emailing Neon Blonde Runner with Garmin questions too! I figure she is clearly a rock star so I knew she could help me out :)ReplyDelete
Those pics look so pretty--I"m just ready to head to the gym for a tm run, but your pics made me debate going outside, 20* and all!
Holy cow that just LOOKS cold! Way to get out there! I'm thinking of trying the chocolate cake and coffee for breakfast, I think it might be worth feeling crappy for like you said :)ReplyDelete
Looks beautiful - even without the sun!ReplyDelete
Great job on getting out for your run!ReplyDelete
I am cold just looking at those photos! :)ReplyDelete
oh my that looks cold!ReplyDelete
I love frosty runs!! They always prove the be some of the bestReplyDelete
oh wow! looks so cold but the pics are gorgeous! sometimes i think it is the run i am least expecting to go well that is the one that feels the best! so awesome to hear about your amazingly paced speedy run!ReplyDelete
good job getting out there in the frosty-ness...I always feel better after I run!ReplyDelete
Wow very cool pictures. I absolutely love the four seasons. Great job on your run. You are really growing as a runner lately and I am very proud of you.ReplyDelete
Okay I'm asking again....have you picked a Spring marathon yet? Common now!
Beautiful pictures, I don't know if I could have forced myself out to run in that, I'm a baby!!ReplyDelete
I didn't know I could update my Garmin training center, but of course I've never even downloaded my software...
Brrr! I've always been a slacker with really cold weather, and now am in Tx for 2 years and can skip the argument with myself. I love that running can have the detox effect... always makes me feel better, too.ReplyDelete
I agree that 20s are great for running, but the teens? Didn't do so well with that this a.m. Maybe because the sun hadn't come up yet for most of it? I was just....COLD.ReplyDelete
Intrigued about the Garmin stuff and the BQ...will go check out her site....
Wow, it looks cold there! I have a hard time when it's cold and damp, but you apparently thrive in it! :)ReplyDelete
i cannot remember the last time I had cake for breakfast...I wish I could still do that!!!ReplyDelete
run for detox..that works for me also..
maybe all the sugar in the cake got the blood pumping! the frost is really beautiful, we haven't really had a frost here yet this season. there was one teeny snow dusting last friday and thats it. tomorrow its supposed to be in the 50's, which is really odd.ReplyDelete
what pretty pictures!ReplyDelete
I love the pictures you post of your surroundings when you run. :) Very pretty.ReplyDelete
I love the frosty photos! Glad you were able to kick the chocolate/coffee funk and turn out a nice run.ReplyDelete
I'm feeling you on the gross feeling after eating like crap. And now here I sit and eat chips and salsa. Great running! I know what 8:15 feels like on the treadmill and that's a good pace. :) I've been running so much on the treadmill lately but I do miss the outdoors a bit.ReplyDelete
Off to read more of your posts.
The photos really capture "frosty" well. Very beautiful :)ReplyDelete
Ah, I'm looking at your beautiful, frosty pictures and it's 70 degrees and muggy here :( Ugh! Bah Humbug...I'm ready for snow here in Texas!ReplyDelete
Congrats on updating the Garmin, I SO want one of those!
Awesome getting out there even though you didn't feel too great! Don't feel too bad about the cake. I'm sure it went straight to your 6-pack and you probably look more ripped than usual now! I ate about 2 cups worth of salty cashew last night and feel absolutely disgusting. I am so dehydrated and have the worst stomach cramps. We live, we learn, right?ReplyDelete
BEAUTIFUL photos Christy :) it seems like out of all the blogs I read your winter is the frostiest :)ReplyDelete
That is my kind of run! We ran in 20 degrees the other day and was so thankful for no wind...it really is peaceful when its cool out and not much is going on!ReplyDelete
I love the beautiful frosty pictures! We are back in the 70s right now. Crazy Louisiana weather!ReplyDelete
