Happy National Running Day

We all have our reasons for running and if you are like me, you can think of hundreds of reasons why you run, but it can all be summed up with the all encompassing

I love running.

Injuries can happen and ruin weeks of hard training or it can all come together for a magnificent PR.
and of course everything in between.  People who don't run might not understand, but that's okay.  I dont get other sports like golf and baseball.

Running is more than just one foot in front of the other,
more than the sense of pride in a new personal best or new personal distance record,
more than the stress it relieves

It can also be as a social activity or some much needed alone time.
It is time to refresh the soul and push to new limits.
It makes me a better mommy and a happier wife.

It makes me feel so happy to be out running with the sun kissing my skin early in the morning, watching the sun come up.

I'm competitive. I love running fast and racing.  I want to see how much faster I can go and how many people I can pass.  I love running fast.

Here are some wild flowers I saw on a run I did last week that left me recharged.

Yes, I think running is even about taking time to enjoy the scenery too.
Check out these wild roses I found.

From the National Running Day web site:

"National Running Day, held annually on the first Wednesday in June, is a day when runners everywhere declare their passion for running. Wherever we are and whomever we’re with, we run — fast or slow, alone or with others, all over town or just around the block. It is a coast-to-coast celebration of a sport and activity that’s simple, inexpensive and fun. It’s the perfect way for longtime runners to reaffirm their love of running and for beginners to kick off a lifetime and life-changing commitment."

So, Running, in case you didn't already know, here is a reaffirmation...

I love you, I really do.
Let's have another exciting and EPIC year together!

What sport do you not "get"?

For me golf.  Never even been a little interested and just about die of boredom if forced to watch it.

Did you reaffirm your love of running?

  1. I am so envious of your running routes! I grew up in the country, but didn't find out about running until I was an adult and firmly entrenched in the suburbs. Seeing your pictures take me back to childhood - especially the wildflowers from today. Thank you!

  2. Seriously, your running routes are so beautiful. Most of mine involve me dodging getting hit by cars!

I don't understand golf either, which is funny because Mike is obsessed with it.

  3. You run in such beautiful places! I think I need some pretty running routes to inspire my running.

I used to dislike watching any sport, but I have learnt to enjoy some sports like rugby (which is fun to watch partly because the players spend half their time rolling in the mud). I can't imagine watching golf and I find the grand prix pretty dull too!

  4. Ditto on the golf. So. Boring. I don't even like to play it. HOw is chasing around a little white ball and trying to put it in a tiny hole relaxing? The two times I played I was so pissed off by the time I was done. I guess that's why there's always beer involved....

  5. Love the flower photo compilations. Very nice! Long ago, I used to play golf. I've never cussed so much in my life! Needles to say, my golfing days were short-lived.

Happy running day to you too!

  7. Happy Running Day to you! I love your list of reason why you love running.
I am with you on the whole golf thing. I really just don't understand the appeal. I certainly don't get how anyone can watch in on TV! BOR-ing.

  8. Happy National Running Day! I don't get golf or bowling. I mean it's kind of fun to bowl once and while but to watch it as a televised competition....?

  12. I love all your reasons for running. I do it for all of those as well! Also, I love Lupines! We have them growing wild in the mountains where I grew up. I think it's good that you "stop to smell the roses" once in a while. One of my favorite things about running is being outside in such beautiful places!

  13. Beautiful flowers!

I don't get Nascar. Is it a sport? Is it not? It's so confusing.

  14. I'm glad my Alter-G day fell on National Running Day. I did some 30 second pick-ups at 90% body weight to celebrate.

  16. the sport I dont get....well football.

  17. I love your scenery. You get everything from snow to gorgeous flowers. So pretty.

I like most sports, but am really impatient about pro basketball. I hate how the last few minutes are the only important parts.

  18. I love your collages....picmonkey??? that's what I've been using since picnic left. I love it!

I love all your happy running points. I finally have the bug again and I'm LOVING IT :) Rex and I race this sunday! It'll be his first race so I'm excited, but have no expectations.

  22. My run was great on Wednesday and I had a full on runner's high, on the treadmill no less:) Sport I don't understand is wrestling. Why guys would want to roll around with eachother on mats doesn't make sense to me. Trying to love golf since my hubby loves it, but so far I really suck!
