2012 Goals

I know we are already 10 days into 2012, but I don't think it is too late to set goals for the year.  I have been thinking these over for awhile now.

1. Drink more water.  Fill up my water bottles in the morning.  Chug from them all day. Bring a water bottle to work to drink out of, fill it up first thing in the morning, drink from it.


2. Wear sunscreen more.  Wear it on EVERY run.  I have not been very good about this lately and I am a pale redhaired person that burns easily. The problem is I HATE the feel of sunscreen on my skin.  Makes me want to take a shower. I am going to splurge for good stuff for my face so I don't hate it quite so bad.

3. Run  1500 miles this year.  This means an average of 125 miles a month or roughly 28 miles a week.  I ran just over 1000 miles last year.  I didn't keep track before April and it all got deleted off my Garmin.  I also didn't log all my runs over the summer in Dailymile.  So it says I have 840 or so for last year but I know I had more. 

4. Eat less sugar. No more running into the gas station for a bag of Skittles on my way home from work, or gummy worms, or Starburst.  This is not to say I am cutting out sugar entirely, just minimizing it.   I was getting a little excessive there for awhile.

5.Run faster :)  I ran a lot of 800 intervals last year.  This year I plan to add in mile intervals and do 400s as well.  I may even try to master the dreaded tempo run.

6. Read the kids a bedtime story every night, unless we have something going on and they fall asleep first. We usually read two or three books at bedtime now.  I just want to keep it up.  I love this time with them.

7. Keep running clothes in my car so when the opportunity presents itself I can knock out a quick run. 

 Pretty simple I know.  I may add more goals to it as the year goes on.

  2. I'd like to run faster this year, too. I'm not so sure I want to train to run faster, though. Miracles can happen, right?

  3. I love reading goal posts...I definitely need to up the sunscreen as well. That's one thing I'm always really bad about!

  4. It's definitely not too late for goals! Love the Gandhi quote...that's my goal philosophy, too. I also need to remember sunscreen! And 1500 miles is a great goal, too!

  8. Great goals Christy! I especially like #7. So many days during my lunch or after work I am like "man I really feel like going for a little run". But rarely do I have running clothes in my car. I am going to work on that one too. :)

    It is shaping up to be a great year for you!

  9. Great goals! We read every night too! I read to everyone and then we read for 10 minutes one-on-one, it's nice, I enjoy that time!

    LOVE your 2012 goals! I'd like to run faster and I def wanna read to my boys EVERY night, without skipping a night! I totally tend to slack on that every now and then!

  12. GREAT goals! I have been really slacking on my water intake lately so I'm trying to focus more on that too.

  13. These are some great goals! I need to make a few if not all of them my goals too. I definitely need to drink more water and there have ben many times when I wish that I had my running stuff in my car and didn't! Good luck with your 2012 goals!

  15. several makeup brands put sunscreen in their face lotion, you might give that a try. that's what i do. i dont put sunscreen anywhere else though i should.

  17. Great goals, especially the keeping workout clothes in your vehicle. :)
    I have a weak spot for gummy candy too. Peach rings, those Welch's fruit chews... yum!

  18. Love your goals-some of them are the same as mine. Although 1500 miles is not. LOL.I'm just not starting to run and using the couch25k training program. Hopefully it works. :)
