2. I told myself I wouldn't buy any more running clothes while currently on my injured and not running status, but I failed that when I made a trip to Target. These great shorts were 50% off and this shirt was very reasonable and will be great for winter running.
Swirlgear shirt and my green Handful bra. Sometimes the smallest things can make me happy.
3. Everyone else seems to be weighing in on it so I will too.
Weight loss is hard, getting into shape and staying there is hard. Doing it all with kids and a full time job makes it all even harder. I only work part time, but it has always been a priority for me. Sometimes people comment that it must be nice having a good metabolism or not having to ever worry about my weight.
I work for it. I know it is harder for some people but I have always since college made it a point to stay in shape and healthy while I see people who have not. I don't agree with the people who are being mean to Maria over her picture.
Personally when I saw it I thought "lucky her she didn't get stretch marks all over her belly like me" . I find the picture inspiring. She looks good. Does everyone need to look like her? Certainly not, but in a country with an obesity epidemic I applaud her and if she motivates even one person to change their life.. awesome. I hate that people are hating on her for looking good and wanting to motivate others.
Maybe her "what's your excuse" is a little harsh for some, personally it motivates me, but I also have never weighed more than 150 while not pregnant so I don't understand the viewpoint of an obese person.
A girl always needs new, super cute running clothes plus it will help to keep you motivated while your foot heals!!ReplyDelete
Buying new running stuff (even if it's just a pair of running socks!) always makes me feel better when I can't run. Sort of feels like a promise of miles to come! :)ReplyDelete
I'm with you on Maria or whatever her name is-- all the controversy has been driving me nuts. Chica looks good and major credit to her for that!ReplyDelete
I say kudos to her for putting in the work! I am thinking a trip to Target soon is needed!ReplyDelete
Like the new running outfit! I'm over the mess about people judging her for being a Mom and being fit. She deserves credit for putting in the hard work and making fitness a priority.ReplyDelete
Well, now I have to make a trip to target! I have been going through my long sleeved tops this week and am going to need some more when it really gets cold.ReplyDelete
I hope your foot continues to heal!
How come no one gets all worked up when a celebrity reveals a kick ass baby body postpartum? I think it's because everyone assumes they have tons of time and trainers at their disposal. As soon as a 'real' person shows that it can be done people feel bad about themselves and instead of doing something to improve their situation they take it out on the person who is supposed to inspire them. I think it's mostly being insecure. Obviously not everyone can look like her, but I don't think she is dumb enough to say that everyone can. People are missing the point.
Loving the pattern on your new shorts!ReplyDelete
I'm not a mother, so I probably don't get a say, but I think the picture is quite inspirational.
I so love Target/Champion running stuff. It's cute and inexpensive. I was just there yesterday. I think the picture is great. I totally applaud her for putting it out there. she looks terrific, she's worked hard, why not!ReplyDelete
Love the green Handful! I didn't realize the controversy going on about that pic. I saw it a long time ago and I say way to rock it! People get so mad because they know they are not putting in the effort needed to change their lives and they want to take it out on someone. And yes, it is annoying when people say "you are lucky you are thin". Not luck people, hard work! I had to lose the baby weight (50 lbs) just like everyone else.ReplyDelete
The Maria photo doesn't bother me, but I am also one who doesn't let other peoples success define me or offend me. I will say that the tag line 'what's your excuse' can be offensive depending on your mood. But hey anything can offend someone. Even if I busted my ass my body would never look like hers. It just wouldn't, we are not built the same and well genetics do play into a lot of it. Even if you 'bust your but' some people are just naturally thin and lose weight better. My SIL has had 4 kids and looks like this women - and yet she didn't have to work nearly as hard as I do. But at the end of the day LIFE IS NOT FAIR - and we all need to grow up and worry about OURSELVES and stop judging others.ReplyDelete
Thumbs up for progress! Hope you're back asap. And I love the Target clothes--so cute and such great colors.ReplyDelete
Yeah, I definitely don't get the backlash against this woman. I think her point is sound--if she can fit it in, so can anyone.
Ugh. I hope you get to run soon.ReplyDelete
I briefly read about that woman on Facebook. I have never had the luxury of being a stay at home mom (except for my stint of unemployment back in 2011). I also have to work VERY hard to stay in shape. I was overweight in college and for many years after and the comments "you are so lucky" and "must be nice" REALLY aggravate me. Good for her! Kids and work and LIFE make it tough to keep on top of it.
I hope your foot is close to being completely healed! Injuries suck- but you are being smart to not push it.ReplyDelete
I really had no issue with that woman's picture, either. People who find it offensive or feel judged by it are the ones that need to be taking a better look at themselves. She should be proud of her accomplishments and she's right, anyone CAN find the time to be healthy if they really want to. I don't (and never will) look like her, but I can be healthy and happy with the body that I have. I WAS a bit jealous of her lack of stretch marks, though. I will never be the one wearing just a sports bra while out for a run. My giant babies made sure of that ;).
Those shorts are perfect! And you'll be back to running soon. I can feel it. :-)ReplyDelete
I totally agree with you on the Maria's picture.
Hey Hey! I have to say that I was skeptical about the It Works wrap too but when I realized that the product is all natural and saw for myself the results on friends and myself, I was totally convinced of the product. It tightens, tones and firms your muscles and again all natural, so it helps to get the toxins about of your system. It's all about getting healthy and fit!ReplyDelete
i swear saying thou shall not buy running gear is like turning on a radar in my brain!!!ReplyDelete
I don't really know why that picture makes people angry honestly. It's way better than a lot of the fitspiration out there. I think people don't like it because they don't like the answer to her question :)
When I wasn't running, I couldn't stand to look at running stuff (well, except for shoes). Blaming the dirty mirror on the kids? For shame :)ReplyDelete
Right now I don't have an excuse. It's just been plain old laziness and the fear of 'what if my knee and hip keep hurting?' It's that fear and it's been hurting other areas of exercise including the PT stuff I should be doing 3-4x a week instead of 1 or 2 times...
Loving the outfit! Hope you're back out on the dirt soon!ReplyDelete
Love the cute shorts! When I got to Target I also forget my promise to not get more workout gear...lol. I had not heard the controversy over this photo and I can see why some people would get upset however I really do not see the big issue people are making. Don't get me wrong, I wish I looked like her but unfortunately (and this is not an excuse :) my hypothyroidism makes it a bit more challenging to get in shape. But that is not a free card to let myself go. I know my limitations and I have to adjust in order to make it work for me.ReplyDelete
I can never pass up a good deal and especially on running gear!! You always have the cutest clothes - do you find that you prefer your running clothes over regular clothes? Great job on being patient with the healing process!ReplyDelete
Love your new shirt. Gosh I hope Target has some great deals for me this next week. Heading S on Sunday to do some shopping for a few days. Here I come, Trader Joe's.ReplyDelete
Sorry to hear about the foot!!ReplyDelete
I also found the fitness mom picture inspiring, and I have a hard time, really, understanding how it could be construed as bullying. If you've decided not to prioritize fitness, there is no shame in owning that statement. To everyone else, this should serve as an inspiration!
I'm glad you are letting your foot heal and are feeling better!!ReplyDelete
I can't really weigh in on the picture since I don't have kids and staying in shape is pretty easy when you don't...
