Because Race Pictures are so flattering

These first 5 pictures are from the Heart and Sole 10k I ran over a month ago.  I just forgot they would be posted on line.  I also discovered that I was not really 2nd in my age group, I WON my age group.  The bibs were messed up on the girl who won and another girl who really was behind me by 15 minutes.  When they finally straightened out the whole mess they never told us.  So I have somebody else's 2nd place medal and someone has my first place medal.  I am going to see if I can get that all corrected.  I think I look pretty tired in this picture.  Probably is the case.  It was one of those days that I just didn't feel "on".  It seemed like the whole race was more work than it should have been.  Do you have races or even workouts like that?  I know I do!

Apparently I also run with my mouth open a lot. Maybe that explains why I feel like I am always eating a bug.
I thought this picture was pretty funny.  I was already done with the race.  I have a popsicle and my camera in my hands. Note also that I am smiling.  Yay I am done.  I survived my first 10k.  I had gone back to run in with my sister. I think that was like my third popsicle.

Totally hamming it up here for the photographer.  I was feeling great, so happy to be running and this was definitely an "on" day. These next three are from the State Games Half Marathon I ran Saturday.  They were posted today.
My shoes are Saucony Fastwitch 4′s they are awesome and fast!
Check out my thumbs they are wanting to give the photographer a thumbs up for every picture! Cheesy! and I love that I am smiling in every picture.

  1. You are supposed to look like you're working! Would you rather look all fresh and 'pretty' and be slow as s***? lol

And you look great in your photos anyway :)

  2. Great pics! Love that you're smiling. I can never remember to put on my "happy" face when I see the camera. I usually have the "what mile marker am I at" look going on! Congrats on the 1st place finish in your age group. Medal or not, you know that you came in 1st! WTG!

  12. Awesome pics! I swear half of the race photogs we get up here aren't even checking to see if runners are in the shot when they press the shutter...serious bad pics. My last half had a private photog and she did such an amazing job - the pics almost looked artsy! and I had no problem plunking down the mere $10 she was charging for the digital copies :)

  27. Great pics! I always try to smile, but I kind of wish they'd put all race photographers just after the starting line - you know - before we get tired!

Congrats on winning your age group!

  28. I bet we all have lots of gaping-mouth running photos. I know I certainly do!

I once read about a runner who would touch up her lipstick mid-marathon to ensure her photos came out OK... Personally I think that's the wrong priority in a race. (Which could explain my deranged-look/frizzy-hair photo history...) But to each their own! ;)

  29. CONGRATS on really actually winning 1st place!

And I have seen the Saucony Fasttwitches, they're really good looking. And they have them in Neon Green! (Yes, that's a proper noun, haha).
