Randomness

I got off work a little early yesterday so I went and found some pepper spray for bears.

The bear I saw never got close enough to me thankfully that I would have had to use this, but I will feel better running with it, knowing there is a bear in the area.  Hopefully it isn't too annoying to run with.

Cherries.  They are finally getting to the 3.99 a lb not the 6.99 a pound price.  I am eating them like they are vital to my survival.  I am on my third bag this week.  It causes some gut issues and I don't eat them before long runs, but they are my favorite and so so seasonal!

We pulled in next to a severely dented pick-up truck at the library yesterday and without missing a beat my daughter says "they really got some hail damage didn't they?"  I took a picture of it to show my husband (and well all of you) the "hail damage" to which my son exclaimed "you can't do that, it's illegal"  He was mortified I would take a picture of someone else's dented truck.
"hail damage"
You are welcome.

This is awesome.
I love that both kids are on bikes and I can either hop on my bike for a leisurely ride with them or run along with them for an easy run.  They are loving it too.  They have done up to 5 miles so far.

These two are never far from their chair.

sometimes their mom still piles in with them too

AND ONLY 15 DAYS UNTIL THE MISSOULA HALF MARATHON.
 I AM GETTING EXCITED!

Tell me something random about your life right now.

  2. And I thought running into venomous snacks was bad! Watermelon is big at my house lately. I'm glad it's good for me. A serving has about 300 mg of potassium and a banana has about 400.

  3. Ha, when I was back in Montana for the annual family vacation at Glacier, I wanted to go running, but I've always been terrified of bears. My family brought pepper spray and bear bells, so I ran along the road jingling (attached the bells to my running pack) with pepper spray in hand. Also, I was singing/shouting to myself because bears are supposed to be scared of noises/voices. Luckily, it was early in the morning on a not-so-well-traveled road, but boy, I must have been a sight to see.

    1. I live by Glacier and we always say those bells are dinner bells for the bear! Haha.

  4. That hail damage picture! Love! You just don't see trucks like that around my neighborhood.
I enjoyed running the Montana Half in Billings, but you already knew that.
And, I will sit through at least 5 basketball games this weekend, but I love that!

  5. i feel like my entire life is random its so hard to choose. I find it interesting that cherries give you gut issues, i wonder what is in them that causes this. My go to fruit lately has been frozen green grapes- so refreshing on hot days!
How exciting to get in a half since its been so long. My first half back will be with Kim in Talladega which I'll "attempt" to pace her- after that October is my first official half back where I'm gunning for a PR- so nerve racking when you take time off.

  8. Those kitties! So cute. The hail damage--not so much.

Randomness here: we took the dog and went to a dog beach on the Chesapeake today with some neighbors and their dog. So much fun!

  9. Random: My husband thought I had plans today because I was wearing a dress- NOPE, just out of clean shorts, and it's hot outside.

Bear spray= good idea after that bear seemed so interested!

  10. Gosh, I hope you never need to rely on that bear spray. If one gets close enough to spray it may be too late! I love cherries too but I think they won't be ready here for a couple more weeks.

    1. Hi, Elle: I live Alaska, where bears are plenty, and bear spray is supposedly on the best deterrents against an aggressive or charging or bothersome bear. I say supposedly because so far I haven't had to use mine yet. We're all so used to seeing bears and bear scat on the trails that often we stupidly don't even carry the spray. Anyway, cheers and hope you had a great weekend.

  11. Love the "hail damage" comment;) I tried to take a pic of my son next to a really nice red Corvette the other day (they are his favorite) and he was mortified. He wouldn't let me do it:(

  12. My randomness:
    1. I love cherries too! I can't wait to buy them when the price gets a little better.
    2. I ran my 2nd 5K on the treadmill today!

  13. I LOVE cherries but I feel like I am eating dollar bills when I eat them...I LIVE for when they are on sale.

Something random about my life: my sisters wedding is on Friday and until she sent out a wedding party itinerary two days ago I COMPLETELY forgot I have to do a maid of honor speech, holy shit. I would share on my blog but it's only a funny story if it goes well and then we can laugh about it later. I really should be working on that right now.

Glad you got the bear spray - I bet you'll never need it.

  15. The cats are so precious curled up in the chair together! I love that your daughter thought the dents were caused by hail damage.

Something random...I'm watching a show on Netflix with horses and Sasha is completely obsessed. That dog would watch animals all day long if we would let her!

  16. I LOVE cherries! I have a bag in the fridge right now, and I'm seriously considering eating cherries for dinner (because that's a well-rounded meal...) in spite of the potential consequences for tomorrow's speedwork. :)
